Event Details

Join Geologist Steve Maslansky detail the incredible journey of an Arizona mineral specimen. Follow the exploits of a “velvet” malachite, mined in Bisbee in the late 1880s, as it travels around the world. It was exhibited at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893 and at the Geological Museum of China. Meet some of the colorful and historically important people who interacted with this beautiful piece. Geology Talks is hosted by the Central Arizona Geology Club and presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library. This event includes an opportunity to "show and tell" and ask questions of Geology Club members.
