Danny Foley will discuss how the science of geography can help feed the planet in the 21st century. As the global population grows exponentially, demand for food and water are increasing whereas supply of arable land and accessible freshwater are decreasing. Learn how geographic science and remote sensing can help to mitigate this looming problem and better understand food and water security. Geology Talks are presented in partnership with â€‹GEM Environmental.

Danny Foley is a geographer interested in utilizing Geographic Information Systems, geospatial technology, and remote sensing to solve problems in earth and environmental science.  His overall research goals are to help better understand the modeling and mapping of global croplands and their water use to mitigate food and water insecurity. He completed graduate school at  Northern Arizona University in applied Geospatial Sciences and is an NAU affiliate researcher.
